Welcome to ...there is always grey, an online destination for stylish living. I am Brett Chamberlain, designer, author and idea curator of ...there is always grey.

Who am I?.......

Life's a party! Celebrate with delicious food. Prior to launching ...there is always grey, I owned a boutique catering business in Seattle, Washington, specializing in small bites and outstanding presentation.

Entertained to Please. I love entertaining my friends. I love hosting dinner parties. I love throwing impromptu get-togethers, huddled around the kitchen counter. To me, the experiences with food, friends and family is what life is all about!

"Soft Industrial" is the new "Rambler." In 2010, during a complete architectural renovation from a 1950s rambler, to a modern, open-floor plan living space, I uncovered my design sweet spot -- "soft industrial." A self-created phrase, "soft industrial" describes a space with rough industrial edges (i.e. concrete, raw steel, etc), softened by the touches of natural, untreated wood, a cashmere throw or a bouclĂ© rug.

Black and White and Grey all Over. Our home's interior mirrors my personal style. A neutral foundation, saturated with black, grey and touches of white to soften the edge.
My daily uniform pairs skinny jeans, with exposed zippers, a simple tee or chambray shirt and boots or some gold, spiked flats. I love fashion with edgy simplicity and the distinctiveness of classic mixed with modern. I've never met a metallic hoop earring I didn't like and while I am drawn to wardrobe staples such as a sharp white dress shirt and a tailored tuxedo jacket, you will never see me wearing red lipstick.

Who Am I....Really?? I am a wife. A mother of two. A great friend. Thoughtful and selfless. A "people-person." A "people-connector." A visual person, who's always on the hunt for inspiration. A self-taught great cook, whose dinner party menus are printed for the guests and frequently include new un-tested recipes. A creative mind, inspired by all things creative.

...there is always grey was designed as a forum to find my creative voice, and hopefully it will become one to find yours.

Thank you for visiting,

Brett Chamberlain
